Prayer for Life in Purity and Removal of all Spiritual Blocs

Please strengthen me to keep all your laws even those I don’t understand!
 Grant me simple emuna and desire to do whatever You command!

Purify me with hyssop, and I will become pure!
Let me learn from this plant to be humble and demure!

Wash me and I will become whiter than snow!
Without the murky husks, I can remain aglow!

Let me live in the land and feel secure!
Please do not pick my soul premature!

Grant me a long life below! 
So, I can continue to grow!

Before any disease grant us the cure!
Will You ensure that we will endure?

Teach us to know like a long time ago!
When will You let Your Presence show?

Then perhaps we can better assure, 
not to fall prey to any allure. 

Please let all our wellsprings flow,
to appreciate what You bestow!

Then we from Your good waters can drink,
They are sweeter than from a faucet and sink!
 .
When You remove all our spiritual blocs, 
We will never need to hit any rocks. 

Hashem help us learn from negativity to abstain,
no longer needing to judge, criticize or complain! 

May we cease from noticing all the wrong!
Let us raise our voices in elated song! 

Ascend, O well! all is well wherever You dwell!
From the streams to the heights let us raise through Your well!

ספר במדבר פרק יט פסוק ב זֹאת חֻקַּת הַתּוֹרָה אֲשֶׁר צִוָּה הָשֵֹם לֵאמֹר דַּבֵּר אֶל בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל...
“This is the statute of the Torah which Hashem commanded, saying, speak to the children of Israel…” (Bamidbar 19:2).
 
ספר במדבר פרק יט פסוק ו וְלָקַח הַכֹּהֵן עֵץ אֶרֶז וְאֵזוֹב וּשְׁנִי תוֹלָעַת וְהִשְׁלִיךְ אֶל תּוֹךְ שְׂרֵפַת הַפָּרָה:
“The kohen shall take a piece of cedar wood, hyssop, and crimson wool, and cast them into the burning of the cow” (Bamidbar 19:6).
 
ספר במדבר פרק יט פסוק יז וְלָקְחוּ לַטָּמֵא מֵעֲפַר שְׂרֵפַת הַחַטָּאת וְנָתַן עָלָיו מַיִם חַיִּים אֶל כֶּלִי:
(יח) וְלָקַח אֵזוֹב וְטָבַל בַּמַּיִם אִישׁ טָהוֹר וְהִזָּה עַל הָאֹהֶל וְעַל כָּל הַכֵּלִים וְעַל הַנְּפָשׁוֹת אֲשֶׁר הָיוּ שָׁם וְעַל הַנֹּגֵעַ בַּעֶצֶם אוֹ בֶחָלָל אוֹ בַמֵּת אוֹ בַקָּבֶר:
“They shall take for that unclean person from the ashes of the burnt purification offering, and it shall be placed in a vessel [filled] with spring water. A ritually pure person shall take the hyssop and dip it into the water and sprinkle it on the tent, on all the vessels, and on the people who were in it, and on anyone who touched the bone, the slain person, the corpse, or the grave” (Bamidbar 19:17-18).

(ב) וְלֹא הָיָה מַיִם לָעֵדָה וַיִּקָּהֲלוּ עַל משֶׁה וְעַל אַהֲרֹן:
(ג) וַיָּרֶב הָעָם עִם משֶׁה וַיֹּאמְרוּ לֵאמֹר וְלוּ גָוַעְנוּ בִּגְוַע אַחֵינוּ לִפְנֵי הָשֵֹם:
(ד) וְלָמָה הֲבֵאתֶם אֶת קְהַל הָשֵֹם אֶל הַמִּדְבָּר הַזֶּה לָמוּת שָׁם אֲנַחְנוּ וּבְעִירֵנוּ:
(ה) וְלָמָה הֶעֱלִיתֻנוּ מִמִּצְרַיִם לְהָבִיא אֹתָנוּ אֶל הַמָּקוֹם הָרָע הַזֶּה לֹא מְקוֹם זֶרַע וּתְאֵנָה וְגֶפֶן וְרִמּוֹן וּמַיִם אַיִן לִשְׁתּוֹת:
The entire congregation of the children of Israel arrived at the desert of Zin in the first month, and the people settled in Kadesh. Miriam died there and was buried there. Then the congregation had no water; so they assembled against Moshe and Aharon. The people quarreled with Moshe, and they said, ‘If only we had died with the death of our brothers before Hashem. Why have you brought the congregation of Hashem to this desert so that we and our livestock should die there? Why have you taken us out of Egypt to bring us to this evil place; it is not a place for seeds, or for fig trees, grapevines, or pomegranate trees, and there is no water to drink’” (Bamidbar 20:1-5).

“Take the staff and assemble the congregation, you and your brother Aharon, and speak to the rock in their presence so that it will give forth its water. You shall bring forth water for them from the rock and give the congregation and their livestock to drink. Moshe took the staff from before Hashem as He had commanded him. Moshe and Aharon assembled the congregation in front of the rock, and he said to them, ‘Now listen, you rebels, can we draw water for you from this rock?’ Moshe raised his hand and struck the rock with his staff twice when an abundance of water gushed forth, and the congregation and their livestock drank. Hashem said to Moshe and Aharon, ‘Since you did not have faith in Me to sanctify Me in the eyes of the children of Israel, therefore you shall not bring this assembly to the Land which I have given them.’ These are the waters of dispute [Mei Merivah] where the children of Israel contended with Hashem, and He was sanctified through them” (Bamidbar 20:8-13).

“From there to the well; that is the well of which Hashem said to Moshe, ‘Gather the people, and I will give them water.’ Then Israel sang this song: ‘Ascend, O well, sing to it!’ A well dug by princes, carved out by nobles of the people, through the lawgiver with their staffs, and from the desert, a gift. From the gift to the streams, and from the streams to the heights” (Bamidbar 21:16-19).

Prayer for Overcoming the Tendencies of Jealousy, Competition, and Honor-Seeking

 
Dear Hashem, I need help for my ego to shed,
and reflect the light of Your Divinity instead!
 
Even if it was because of my intuition,
that certain matters were brought to fruition,
help me to just keep doing my mission,
without craving credit or recognition!
 
Hold my hand while I from honor flee,
Let me learn the virtues of others to see! 
 
Help me always to show them respect,
even if they may be incorrect!
 
Although I may disagree,
teach me how to bow my knee!
 
My self-righteousness I must uproot,
to stay away from any kind of dispute.
 
Whenever I feel an urge to be direct,
let me first consider my words’ effect!
 
Why would I ever want to object?
Isn’t it more important to connect?
 
Guide me to be righteous and fair in all my dealings,
while being careful to consider other people’s feelings!
 
Support me to be steadfast in stating my position,
without getting caught in contest and competition!
 
Strengthen me to overcome feeling jealous,
rather for Your Torah let me be zealous!
 
Guide me to shed the tendency of being greedy
Let me be a giver rather than someone needy!
 
Help me all my negative traits to release,
so I can engender harmony and peace! 


Based on Bamidbar Chapter 16:

ספר במדבר פרק טז פסוק א וַיִּקַּח קֹרַח בֶּן יִצְהָר בֶּן קְהָת בֶּן לֵוִי וְדָתָן וַאֲבִירָם בְּנֵי אֱלִיאָב וְאוֹן בֶּן פֶּלֶת בְּנֵי רְאוּבֵן:

(ב) וַיָּקֻמוּ לִפְנֵי משֶׁה וַאֲנָשִׁים מִבְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל חֲמִשִּׁים וּמָאתָיִם נְשִׂיאֵי עֵדָה קְרִאֵי מוֹעֵד אַנְשֵׁי שֵׁם:
(ג) וַיִּקָּהֲלוּ עַל משֶׁה וְעַל אַהֲרֹן וַיֹּאמְרוּ אֲלֵהֶם רַב לָכֶם כִּי כָל הָעֵדָה כֻּלָּם קְדשִׁים וּבְתוֹכָם הָשֵׁם וּמַדּוּעַ תִּתְנַשְּׂאוּ עַל קְהַל הָשֵׁם:

“Korach the son of Yitzhar, the son of Kahat, the son of Levi took [himself to one side] along with Datan and Aviram, the sons of Eliav, and On the son of Pelet, descendants of Reuven. They confronted Moshe together with two hundred and fifty men from the children of Israel, chieftains of the congregation, representatives of the assembly, men of repute. They assembled against Moshe and Aharon, and said to them, ‘You take too much upon yourselves, for the entire congregation are all holy, and Hashem is in their midst. So why do you raise yourselves above Hashem’s assembly?’” (Bamidbar 16:1-3).           

KORACH… TOOK - He took himself to one side to dissociate himself from the congregation, to contest the [appointment of Aaron to the] kehuna. This is what Onkelos means when he renders it וְאִתְפְּלֵג/ve’itpeleg, “and he separated himself.” He separated himself from the congregation to persist in a dispute… Now what made Korach decide to quarrel with Moshe? He envied the chieftainship of Elitzaphan the son of Uziel whom Moshe appointed as chieftain over the sons of Kahat by the [Divine] word. Korach claimed, “My father and his brothers were four [in number]” as it says, “The sons of Kahat were…” (Shemot 6:18). Amram was the first, and his two sons received greatness-one a king and one a kohen gadol. Who is entitled to receive the second [position]? Is it not I, who am the son of Yitzhar, who is the second brother to Amram? And yet, he [Moshe] appointed to the chieftainship the son of his youngest brother! I hereby oppose him and will invalidate his word (Midrash Tanchuma Korach 1; Bamidbar Rabbah 18:2, quoted by Rashi, Bamidbar 16:1).

Prayer for Seeing the Beauty of the Land of Israel and for Overcoming Fear and Living Securely in Our Land

Prayer for Seeing the Beauty of the Land of Israel
and for Overcoming Fear and Living Securely in Our Land
 
Thank you for the flowers, the grapevines, and the blue sky that is so sunny.
 
What a privilege to live in the land enveloped by Your presence.
Only in Israel can we Jews truly connect with our inner essence.
 
Here we can be ourselves, no need to wear lipstick or wigs.
Here we can enjoy picking grapes, pomegranates, and figs.
 
A land of strawberries and cherries,
apples, apricots, and mulberries!
 
How they all make the land of Israel so fruity,
 Hashem help us always tune into the beauty!
 
May we believe that the fruit exists inside of its shell!
Let us regard the light of Israel wherever we dwell!
 
May we reflect on the luster
of the succulent cluster!
 
Guard our eyes from being led astray by exterior allure!
Please allow us to do more than watch a tourist brochure!
 
May we overlook the impure and notice only the pure!
Let us travel the land embarking on our journey and tour!
 
Praise Hashem for the land of beaches, lakes, and rivers,
for the land of mountains and valleys that truly delivers!
 
Allow us to swim in the Kineret and ski in Hermon!
Let us tour the land and pray at the Machpelah in Chevron!
 
May our trust in Hashem overcome any kind of fear
of visiting places in Israel whether far or near!
 
May we all feel empowered to live securely in our Holy Land,
with the deepest faith in the protection by Hashem’s mighty hand!
 
Let us believe that the enemy can never be too strong! 
With Divine Supervision how could we ever go wrong?

And what of the cities in which they reside, are they in camps or in fortresses? 20 What is the soil like, is it fat or lean? Are there any trees in it or not? You shall be courageous and take from the fruit of the land.’ It was the season when the first grapes begin to ripen. 21 So they went up and explored the land, from the desert of Zin until Rehov, at the entrance to Hamath. 22 They went up in, the south, and he came to Chevron, and there were Ahiman, Sheshai, and Talmai, the descendants of the giant. Now Chevron had been built seven years before Zoan of Egypt. 23 They came to the Valley of Eshkol and they cut a branch with a cluster of grapes. They carried it on a pole between two [people] and [they also took] some pomegranates and figs. 24 They called that place the Valley of Eshkol because of the cluster [eshkol] the children of Israel cut from there. 25 They returned from scouting the Land at the end of forty days. 26 They went, and they came to Moshe and Aaron and all the congregation of the children of Israel in the desert of Paran, to Kadesh. They brought them back a report, as well as to the entire congregation, and they showed them the fruit of the land. 27 They told him and said, ‘We came to the land to which you sent us, and it is flowing with milk and honey, and this is its fruit. 28 However, the people who inhabit the land are mighty, and the cities are extremely huge and fortified, and there we saw even the offspring of the giant. 29 The Amalekites dwell in the south land, while the Hittites, the Jebusites, and the Amorites dwell in the mountainous region. The Canaanites dwell on the coast and alongside the Jordan.’ 30 Calev silenced the people to [hear about] Moshe, and he said, ‘We can surely go up and take possession of it, for we can indeed overcome it.’ 31 But the men who went up with him said, ‘We are unable to go up against the people, for they are stronger than we.’ 32 They spread an [evil] report about the land which they had scouted, telling the children of Israel, ‘The land we passed through to explore is a land that consumes its inhabitants, and all the people we saw in it are men of stature. 33 There we saw the giants, the sons of Anak, descended from the giants. In our eyes, we seemed like grasshoppers, and so we were in their eyes’” (Bamidbar 13:17-33).

Prayer for Continual Attachment to Hashem,
Overcoming Hardships by Following His Lead
 

Raise me Hashem like the menorah flame,
to reach my highest potential is my aim!
 
To the whole world let me proclaim,
“You too can rise and do the same!”
 
Although our lives may at times be obscure,
I ask You, Hashem, let my light endure!
 
Preserve my strength as I mature,
even if I may become impure.
 
If I failed, will You give me a second chance?
Please empower my ability to sing and dance!
 
Let me enter Your sanctuary in Holy Trance!
For Your sake, I will not fear taking a stance!
 
May I not go astray to follow the crowd!
Lead my way with Your glorious, holy cloud!
 
To You alone do I let my head be bowed.
Let me praise Your name clear and loud!
 
Even when I am in pain,
help me never to complain!
Let me constantly remain,
stable, sensible and sane!
 

I pray that Your closeness I will always desire,

even when many worldly things I must acquire.
 
Don’t forsake me when I lay down to retire!
At night, please warm me with Your Holy fire!

WHEN YOU IGNITE - Hebבְּהַעֲלֹתְךָ, /beha’alotcha lit., when you cause to ascend. Since the flame rises, Scripture describes kindling in terms of ascending. He is required to kindle the candle until the flame rises by itself (Shab. 21a); (Rashi, Bamidbar 8:2).     

ספר במדבר פרק ט פסוק י דַּבֵּר אֶל בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל לֵאמֹר אִישׁ אִישׁ כִּי יִהְיֶה טָמֵא לָנֶפֶשׁ אוֹ בְדֶרֶךְ רְחֹקָה לָכֶם אוֹ לְדֹרֹתֵיכֶם וְעָשָׂה פֶסַח לַהָשֵׁם: (יא) בַּחֹדֶשׁ הַשֵּׁנִי בְּאַרְבָּעָה עָשָׂר יוֹם בֵּין הָעַרְבַּיִם יַעֲשׂוּ אֹתוֹ עַל מַצּוֹת וּמְרֹרִים יֹאכְלֻהוּ:
“Speak to the children of Israel saying, any person who becomes impure from [contact with] the dead, or is on a distant journey, whether among you or in future generations, he shall make a Pesach sacrifice for Hashem. In the second month, on the fourteenth day, in the afternoon, they shall make it; they shall eat it with matzot and bitter herbs” (Bamidbar 9:10-11).

(טו) וּבְיוֹם הָקִים אֶת הַמִּשְׁכָּן כִּסָּה הֶעָנָן אֶת הַמִּשְׁכָּן לְאֹהֶל הָעֵדֻת וּבָעֶרֶב יִהְיֶה עַל הַמִּשְׁכָּן כְּמַרְאֵה אֵשׁ עַד בֹּקֶר:
(טז) כֵּן יִהְיֶה תָמִיד הֶעָנָן יְכַסֶּנּוּ וּמַרְאֵה אֵשׁ לָיְלָה:
(יז) וּלְפִי הֵעָלוֹת הֶעָנָן מֵעַל הָאֹהֶל וְאַחֲרֵי כֵן יִסְעוּ בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל וּבִמְקוֹם אֲשֶׁר יִשְׁכָּן שָׁם הֶעָנָן שָׁם יַחֲנוּ בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל:
(יח) עַל פִּי הָשֵׁם יִסְעוּ בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל וְעַל פִּי הָשֵׁם יַחֲנוּ כָּל יְמֵי אֲשֶׁר יִשְׁכֹּן הֶעָנָן עַל הַמִּשְׁכָּן יַחֲנוּ:
“On the day the Mishkan was erected, the cloud covered the Mishkan, which was a tent for the Testimony, and at evening, there was over the Mishkan like an appearance of fire, [which remained] until morning. So it was always, the cloud covered it and there was an appearance of fire at night. According to the cloud’s departure from over the Tent, and afterward, the children of Israel would travel, and in the place where the cloud settled, there the children of Israel would encamp. At the bidding of Hashem, the children of Israel traveled, and at the bidding of Hashem, they encamped. As long as the cloud hovered above the Mishkan, they encamped” (Bamidbar 9:15-18).

ספר במדבר פרק יא
(א) וַיְהִי הָעָם כְּמִתְאֹנֲנִים רַע בְּאָזְנֵי הָשֵׁם וַיִּשְׁמַע הָשֵׁם וַיִּחַר אַפּוֹ וַתִּבְעַר בָּם אֵשׁ הָשֵׁם וַתֹּאכַל בִּקְצֵה הַמַּחֲנֶה:
(ב) וַיִּצְעַק הָעָם אֶל משֶׁה וַיִּתְפַּלֵּל משֶׁה אֶל הָשֵׁם וַתִּשְׁקַע הָאֵשׁ:
(ג) וַיִּקְרָא שֵׁם הַמָּקוֹם הַהוּא תַּבְעֵרָה כִּי בָעֲרָה בָם אֵשׁ הָשֵׁם:
(ד) וְהָאסַפְסֻף אֲשֶׁר בְּקִרְבּוֹ הִתְאַוּוּ תַּאֲוָה וַיָּשֻׁבוּ וַיִּבְכּוּ גַּם בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל וַיֹּאמְרוּ מִי יַאֲכִלֵנוּ בָּשָׂר:
“The people were looking to complain, and it was evil in the ears of Hashem. Hashem heard and His anger flared, and a fire of Hashem burned among them, consuming the extremes of the camp. The people cried out to Moshe; Moshe prayed to Hashem, and the fire died down. He named that place Tav’erah, for the fire of Hashem burned among them there. But the multitude among them began to have strong cravings. Then even the children of Israel once again began to cry, and they said, “Who will feed us meat?” (Bamidbar 11:1-4).
