Prayer for Soothing Troubles and Enjoying a Tranquil Life

Parashat Vayeshev

Prayer for Soothing Troubles and Enjoying a Tranquil Life

Only You Hashem, know how many troubles I’ve been through,
the many sorrows, struggles, and trials that in my life accrue.

Please Hashem I pray that You help my distress to soothe.
I need a break, and only You can make my life smooth.

I am tired of confrontations, glitches, and strife.
I long to be just an ordinary surrendered wife.

Please Hashem grant me just a little respite.
What’s wrong with living simply and politely?

Will we ever completely comprehend,
for what purpose in this world, we were sent?

Yes, I am keenly aware that every single test,
is from You, Hashem, all designed for my best.

I don’t want to sound like an ungrateful complainer.
Perceiving the blessings in my life is a no-brainer.

I’m thankful for being healthy, and for my supportive spouse,
for food on the table, and for living securely in our house.

Although I don’t believe that I deserve all of this,
I am still yearning for more serenity and bliss.

The best way to overcome depressing worry and fear,
is by experiencing Your presence so real and so near.

Therefore, open my eyes to see beyond the surface that confine.
So, my life can become filled with consciousness of the Divine.

Let me behold every greeting flower petal as Your extension!
Help me awaken my soul to connect with the inner dimension!

Knowing that nothing is perfect until Your house is built,
is it too much to ask for, getting my prayers fulfilled?

Tell me Hashem how can I start anew and do things right,
to enjoy a life of celebration, gladness, and light.

Based on Bereishit Chapter 37: verse 1 and 2 with Rashi

“Ya’acov dwelt in the land of his father’s sojournings, in the land of Canaan. These are the generations of Ya’acov: when Yosef was seventeen years old, being a shepherd, he was with his brothers with the flocks, and he was a youth, [and was] with the sons of Bilhah and with the sons of Zilpah, his father’s wives; and Yosef brought evil tales about them to their father” (Bereishit 37:1-2).

…It is further expounded upon [as follows]: “dwelt” (verse 1) When Ya’acov sought to dwell in tranquility, the troubles of Yosef sprang upon him. The righteous seek to dwell in tranquility. Said the Holy One, blessed be He, “What is prepared for the righteous in the world to come is not sufficient for them, but they seek [also] to dwell in tranquility in this world!” (Rashi, Bereishit 37:2).

Prayer for Overcoming Inner Enemies, and Rising to Become My Very Best

 Parashat Vayislach

Prayer for Overcoming Inner Enemies, and Rising to Become my Very Best

Hashem help me face my shadow side,
that dark part of me that I prefer to hide.

Those harmful feelings of worry and fear,
that makes me forget that You are always near.

Sometimes when things are hard You feel so far away.
Please help me have faith to keep facing another day!

I know its only my own lowliness that blocks my view.
Please cleanse the lens of my eye so my vision can renew!

Hashem help grant me focus and strength,
to keep praying sincerely in great length.

Remove those awful, negative, spiderweb thoughts,
within whose net my mind so easily gets caught.

Help me get out of my heavy head and into my feet!
Allow me to keep dancing through life to Your holy beat!

Guide me to always yearn to do Your will,
while finding true happiness and feeling chill.

Lift me up from feeling lonely and blue.
Let me sense Your presence in everything I do!

You didn’t create me to care about myself alone.
Help me put the welfare of others before my own!

Guide me always do my very best,
to gracefully welcome every guest.

Teach me to become a giving wellspring of loving care,
supporting the needy and lifting people out of despair.

Whatever I experience through life’s flows and ebbs,
let the awareness of Your Presence permeate my steps!

Strengthen me to keep going and never give up!
Show me how to always see the fullness of my cup!

Based on Bereishit Chapter 32
“The angels returned to Ya’acov, saying, ‘We came to your brother, to Esau, and he is also coming toward you, and four hundred men are with him.’ Ya’acov became very frightened and was distressed; so he divided the people who were with him and the flocks and the cattle and the camels into two camps” (Bereishit 32:7-8).8
“Then Ya’acov said, ‘O G-d of my father Avraham and G-d of my father Yitzchak, Hashem, Who said to me, ‘Return to your land and to your birthplace, and I will do good to you.’ I have become small from all the kindnesses and from all the truth that You have rendered Your servant, for with my staff I crossed this Jordan, and now I have become two camps. Now deliver me from the hand of my brother, from the hand of Esau, for I am afraid of him, lest he comes and strikes me, [and strike] a mother with children” (Bereishit 32:10-12).
“Ya’acov was left alone, and a man wrestled with him until the break of dawn. When he saw that he could not prevail against him, he touched the socket of his hip, and the socket of Ya’acov's hip became dislocated as he wrestled with him” (Bereishit 32:25-26).6

Malbim, Bereishit 32:25: Ya’acov’s struggle is between good and evil in the world, between spirituality and materialism. Hashem created this world in opposites, but the human being consists of both body and soul, good and evil. Our purpose is to let our good overpower our evil – to let our body serve his soul. When Israel keeps Torah and Mitzvot, then Edom, our enemies will surrender. There are upper powers that conduct everything that exists in the world. Just as on the individual level of the human being, we have both an evil and a good inclination, that rule the intellect and soul, as well as the power of the animal soul and materialism, thus there is an upper power, called איש/Ish, which is the general holiness that guards Israel. There is also the general power, which is in charge of evil – is Sam…, Esau’s angel, who always aims at tempting and enticing. Its whole raison de vivre is to cause Israel to sin. Otherwise, this power has no existence at all. Before Ya’acov could confront Esau in person he had to confront the power of Esau, which is hence his own yetzer hara, hence the general yetzer hara of the world which is Esau’s angel. In his struggle against his own yetzer hara Ya’acov was able to strip himself of his body until his essence (soul) remained alone. The איש/ish which fought with him refers to Ya’acov’s own physicality, which would not let him strip himself of his body. Chazal teach that they brought up dust to the throne of glory this means that this was an inner struggle, which reached all the way to the root of emunah, for Esau’s angel wanted to separate Ya’acov from his root of emunah. However, the power of evil was unable to prevail over Ya’acov, for Ya’acov was able to overcome his physicality with the immense power of his soul.

Prayer for Protection and a Successful Journey When Leaving the Land

Parashat Vayeitzei

Prayer for Protection and a Successful Journey When Leaving the Land

Hashem, please shield me under Your protective hand.
You know how much I fear leaving the holy land!

But it is Your will that I honor my father and mother,
just as Ya’acov did when he ran away from his brother.

Please send Your angels to watch over me through high and low!
Let me feel safe and sound, wherever in the world I need to go!

Protect me from exposure to the virus or any threatening germ!
May the Covid test result arrive in time for my flight to confirm!

Keep the synthetic perfumes far away from me.
Grant me the energy to keep going wherever I be!

Let me bring happiness to everyone I hold dear,
reconnecting with them all, whether far or near!

Allow me to sleep soundly and receive a holy dream!
Guide me on my journey to stay balanced and not extreme!

On all my arduous stops grant me all my basic needs,
including kosher green smoothies with edible weeds!

Just as the twinkled stars shimmer in Your sky,
Let me sparkle Your holy light from on high!

Wherever You guide my steps, may I reflect Your light!
Let me inspire everyone with Your words so bright!

May my modest, colorful scarves motivate women on my way!
May they open themselves to receive the messages I relay!

Infuse me with holiness and let my spiritual needs be met!
Keep me focused on never the Land of Israel to forget!

Let me accomplish my tasks overseas and reach my goal,
for the holy land will always be the home of my soul.

It is not easy passing the tests wherever I roam.
Please send Your angels to bring me safely back home!

22 Then this stone, which I have placed as a monument, shall be a house of G-d, and everything that You give me, I will surely tithe to You” (Bereishit 28:20-22).

Prayer for Restoring Loving Relationships with Siblings

Parashat Toldot
Prayer for Restoring Loving Relationships with Siblings

That the two of us were siblings no one believed,
although in the same womb we were conceived.

She was so dark-skinned and hairy,
I was white and smooth like a fairy.

She was thin and fragile, while I was strong.
Despite our differences, we grew to get along.

For so many years my sister was my very best friend,
but then our mutual loving trust came to a sharp end.

Hashem, I wish our deepest closeness would remain.
How do I repair, recover and heal this deepest pain?

I ask You Hashem for compassion to heal my open bruise.
Your Loving Feminine Presence I cannot afford to lose.

In peace with all my family, I desire to live.
Help me focus on the good and learn to forgive.

Even if she doesn’t want to understand or really hear,
I am going to accept her constraints, for she is so dear.

Even if she isn’t sorry for her lack of communication,
I will do everything in my power to bring reconciliation.

For those with whom we share an eternal bond of blood,
we must be willing to pick up sparks buried in the mud.

Many families have been torn apart by trivial matters.
How can people allow their hearts to remain in shatters?

Blaming others never helps us become our very bests.
Hashem, help me grow, refine, and learn from all my tests!

I need to reclaim my broken shards and heal from within.
Hashem give me the strength to accept and repair any sin.

Show me the way within the pathways of my heart,
to find common ground, to no longer be torn apart.

Based on Bereishit Chapter 25 and 27:
“The first one emerged ruddy; he was completely like a coat of hair, and they named him Esau. Afterwards, his brother emerged, and his hand was grasping Esau’s heel, and he named him Ya’acov (Bereishit 25:25-26).

“Then the youths grew up, and Esau was a man who understood hunting, a man of the field, whereas Ya’acov was a pure man, dwelling in tents” (Bereishit 25:27).

“When Esau heard his father’s words, he cried out a great and bitter cry, and he said to his father, ‘Bless me too, O my father!’ But he said, ‘Your brother came with cunning and took your blessing’ (Bereishit 27:34-35).

“Then Esau said to his father, ‘Have you [but] one blessing, my father? Bless me too, my father.’ So, Esau raised his voice and wept (Bereishit 27:34-35).

Prayer for a Zivug (Soulmate) for Our Son

Parashat Chayei Sarah
Prayer for a Zivug (Soulmate) for Our Son

Hashem, You know, we have been through much loss and grief.
Please turn hardship into joy and strengthen our belief!

O Hashem how long must we pray for a zivug for our son?
The years are passing by, and we are still waiting for the one.

You listened when we prayed long years for him to be born.
Our anguished childlessness we no longer had to mourn.

Please also listen now when we continue to pray!
Bring blessings, joy, and celebration our way!

Hashem, send Your angels, who will help our son to see
how to prepare himself, so a good husband he can be!

Guide us how to be the very best support,
so that to the Chuppah we him can escort!

Did You bring him into the world to be alone all his life?
Please prepare and guide him how to find a suitable wife!

Let her be from a good family, let her be refined.
Let her complement our tzaddik and let her be kind!

Let her be like Rivkah giving everything she can,
ready to follow Hashem and her beloved man.

May she be happy and supportive to our son!
May they share Torah values and also have fun!

May they remain happy together like newlyweds,
working out the challenges without butting heads!

May they raise a family to serve You Hashem!
May their children be like the stars, each one a gem!

Hashem, life passes fast, how long can we wait and see?
You know how we yearn to hold grandchildren on our knee.

Our Merciful Father, to You alone I turn.
I implore You forever Your Torah we will learn!

Based on Bereishit (Genesis) Chapter 24

“Avraham was old, advanced in days, and Hashem had blessed Abraham with everything” (Bereishit 24:1).

HAD BLESSED ABRAHAM WITH EVERYTHING - [The word] בַּכֹּל/bakol – “with everything” is numerically equal to בֵּן/ben – ‘son’. Since he had a son, he had to find him a wife (Rashi, Bereishit 24:1).

“I will adjure you by Hashem, the G-d of the heaven and the G-d of the earth, that you will not take a wife for my son from the daughters of the Canaanites, in whose midst I dwell. But you shall go to my land and to my birthplace, and you shall take a wife for my son, for Yitzchak” (Bereishit 24:3-4).

Hashem, G-d of the heavens, Who took me from my father’s house and from the land of my birth, and Who spoke about me, and Who swore to me, saying, ‘To your seed will I give this land’ He will send His angel before you, and you shall take a wife for my son from there” (Bereishit 24:7).

“He said, ‘O Hashem, the G-d of my master Avraham, please cause to happen to me today, and perform loving kindness with my master, Abraham. Behold, I am standing by the water fountain, and the daughters of the people of the city are coming out to draw water. Let it be, [that] the maiden to whom I will say, ‘Lower your pitcher and I will drink,’ and she will say, ‘Drink, and I will also water your camels,’ her have You designated for Your servant, for Yitzchak, and through her may I know that You have performed loving kindness with my master” (Bereishit 24:12-14).

HER HAVE YOU DESIGNATED - She is worthy of him, for she will perform acts of kindness, and she is fit to enter the house of Abraham… (Rashi, Bereishit 24:14).

“Yitzchak brought her to the tent of Sarah his mother, and he took Rivkah, and she became his wife, and he loved her. And Yitzchak was comforted for [the loss of] his mother” (Bereishit 24:67).

Prayer for Guidance, Spiritual Revelations and Success

Parashat Vayera
Prayer for Guidance, Spiritual Revelations and Success

Hashem just as You appeared to Avraham in the heat of the day,
I wish You would also appear to me, even in a very small way.

Guide me! Help me, reveal Yourself, and let your Presence show!
Where do I need to improve, and where do You want me to go?

So many multitudes of distractions in my life blur Your presence,
help me weed out the extras and reconnect to my inner essence!

Where are all Your hosts of angels that You perpetually send?
Can You spare just one for me, who could help me to ascend?

Please send Your holy angels from the highest heaven Above,
to watch over all those precious souls that I treasure and love.

Where is Michael’s chesed, Gavriel’s strength and the healing of Refael?
Let me get a glimpse of your servants, ensuring that everyone stays well!

I know we can’t rely on miracles, but may I anyway ask for one?
Even if I’m not deserving like Sarah, whom You granted a son.

Just like Avraham prayed and pleaded to save Sodom,
I implore You to remove the plague and bring us shalom.

As Sarah conceived, I pray to conceive of spiritual offspring,
to keep learning Your deepest Torah, pray together and sing!

I’m not afraid of working hard and digging deep wells,
helping Your world purify from all of the murky shells.

Show me the places to dig, to find the purest waters!
Let it emerge to cleanse all of your lovely daughters!

Please give me only the hardships and tests that I can easily pass,
So I can continue to serve You, emerging from my tower of glass.

Teach me to behold Your presence in everything that I do.
Let me learn from your servant, Avraham, to only fear You.

I deeply desire to engage in Your Torah and in good deeds.
Please bless me Hashem, with abundance and let me succeed!

Based on Bereishit (Genesis) Chapters 18, 21, and 22

“Now Hashem appeared to him in the plains of Mamre, and he was sitting at the entrance of the tent in the heat of the day” (Bereishit 18:1).
“Then he lifted his eyes and saw, and behold, three men were standing beside him, and he saw, and he ran toward them from the entrance of the tent, and he prostrated himself to the ground” (Bereishit 18:2).

These angels were Michael, Refael and Gavriel. Michael came to tell the good tidings to Sarah (chesed/kindness) and to save Lot (rachamim/compassion); Refael to heal Avraham; and Gavriel to overturn Sodom (Rabbeinu Bachaya, Bereishit 18:2).
